What the consultation is

A 45-minute consultation with an Ontario lawyer by video or phone, for legal information and guidance on your situation.
It does not include reviewing or drafting documents, negotiating, or representing you. Those need a separate written agreement.
It is separate from the Ontario Lawyer Review service.

Before anything is booked: conflict check

We first check that no lawyer involved acts, or has acted, for the other party. We use the names you give us only for this check and to contact you.
If there is a conflict, or the matter is one we can’t take on, we will tell you. You are not charged.
You choose a time and pay only after the check is cleared.

Payment

$199 plus $25.87 HST (13%, Ontario): $224.87 in total, paid by card through Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
Paying confirms your consultation time. It does not create a retainer or make the lawyer your lawyer for anything beyond the consultation.

Cancelling or rescheduling (proposed)

You can reschedule or cancel from your confirmation email.
Proposed: a full refund if you cancel at least 24 hours before the start time. A late cancellation or missed appointment may not be refunded. [Policy to be confirmed by the firm.]
If we have to cancel, you get a full refund or a new time, as you prefer.

Privacy

What you send is used to run the conflict check, arrange the consultation and contact you. It is not sold or used for advertising.
Do not include documents or detailed private information in this form. The lawyer will ask for what is needed.
Your information is handled under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) and the Law Society of Ontario’s confidentiality rules. Retention periods and a full privacy policy will be published before launch.
